As the world evolves, encryption in space is no longer just protecting geostationary Earth orbit (GEO) TT&C and mission data. Viasat is approaching space encryption hand-in-hand with our customers to develop innovative, leading-edge ground and satellite solutions with the entire space-ground system perspective in mind.
The KS-252 is a Ground Operating Equipment (GOE) which is configurable for multiple cryptographic functions using industry standard Ethernet interfaces for both data and control, and enables users to replace their expensive, aging, legacy GOE TT&C equipment with a modern, smaller, lower-cost, and lower-maintenance device. It is also software reprogrammable, making it convenient to upgrade or modify its functionality for future applications.
The heart of the KS-252 is our field-proven, flexible, scalable PSIAM™ cryptosystem core that supports secure algorithm management and key management functions. It implements seven of the most common space-related cryptographic algorithms used for TT&C, including their associated command authentication functions.
